The son and grandson of an oboist, Vincent Tizon began his studies with René Guillamot, Philippe Grauvogel, Daniel Arrignon, and Jean-Claude Jaboulay, before joining the class of David Walter, Jacques Tys, and Maurice Bourgue at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he also studied baroque oboe under Marcel Ponseele. He completed his studies with the CNSMDP’s Diplôme de Formation Supérieure, as well as the chamber music prize.
He went on to perform with prestigious orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Korean Chamber Orchestra, Geneva Camerata, Teatro alla Scala, La Fenice di Venezia, among others, under conductors such as Kurt Masur, Christoph Eschenbach, Alain Altinoglu, Pierre Boulez, Emmanuel Krivine, Riccardo Muti, Yakov Kreizberg, Trevor Pinnock, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Ton Koopman, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Petr Popelka and Myun-Whun Chung. He has also taken part in renowned recordings and festivals (BBC Proms, Edinburgh, Salzburg, etc.).
He joined the Orchestre National de Cannes as principal oboe in 2008, and was appointed professor at Cannes conservatoire in 2012. He performs as a soloist in concertos from the standard repertoire (Mozart, Richard Strauss, etc.) and in chamber music or recital settings in France, UK, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Albania, etc. He gives masterclasses in France, Romania, and Korea. Vincent Tizon selected his Légende oboe in January 2021, for its exceptional homogeneity and playing comfort. He has also enjoyed playing the Légende H model since June 2023.
