Boxwood Légende clarinet

The high-end evolution of the Tradition clarinet.

A precise timbre, a muffled vibration.

During prehistoric times, boxwood (Buxus Sempervirens) was used in the manufacture of tools and hunting weapons for its robustness and hardness. Later in the Middle Ages, it will be used for the manufacture of templates used to hammer gold or silver work. And it was a little over 300 years ago that it was the wood of choice for master luthiers for its mechanical and acoustic properties. It is its very slow growth (approximately 1 cm in diameter and 50 cm in height in 10 to 15 years) which gives it a density comparable to that of grenadilla (Dalbergia Melanoxylon). Taking advantage of the best of the innovation which Buffet Crampon has demonstrated in recent years, in particular thanks to the treatment of the wood, we are very pleased to be able to present this year in 2020, a limited edition of our LÉGENDE clarinet, in boxwood. Lighter and benefiting from the same manufacturing care as its sister in African blackwood (Dalbergia Melanoxylon), it offers more softness and roundness in the tone, enhanced by a particular and unique vibration of its kind.

The choice of excellence

In order to make the clarinet as reliable and suitable as modern instruments, the boxwood LÉGENDE retains all the technical attributes of the African blackwood (Dalbergia Melanoxylon) model: its Green-LinE inserts, its ergonomic rings, its gold-plated covering and of course its legendary bore. 2 bore controls will be offered free of charge beyond the warranty period in order to always provide the musician with the assurance of a rich and warm tone.

For musicians wishing to convey the authenticity of historical material and benefit from the reliability of modern clarinets, the LÉGENDE in boxwood will lend itself wonderfully to the performance of chamber music pieces and orchestral repertoire of room.
