Formed in 2018 while its members were students at Tokyo University of the Arts and Tokyo College of Music, The Narmen Clarinet Ensemble gave its first concert in March of that year. In 2019, the quartet appeared in NEWS Vol. 6, a concert series presented by Dolce Instruments and clarinetist Masashi Togame, performing in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
In September 2020, the ensemble gave a recital at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall, presenting a demanding program that expanded the perceived possibilities of the clarinet quartet. Its four members are active as both soloists and orchestral musicians, and the ensemble is known for its technically ambitious performances and adventurous programming.
In December 2022, the quartet released its debut album, Equilibrium, You and Gravity. The album was selected as a “Tokusen-ban” (Editor's Choice) by the Japanese classical music magazine Record Geijutsu. The ensemble was also featured on NHK-FM’s Recital Passio, first broadcast on November 2, 2025.
