Agata Piątek graduated with honours from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, studying under Professor Arkadiusz Adamski, and was awarded the prestigious Primus Inter Pares medal for the best graduate of the year. Since 2022, she has been working as a Teaching Assistant at her alma mater.
She has established herself among the leading clarinettists of her generation. In 2025, she was selected as one of the six semi-finalists in the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich. She has won prizes in over 30 national and international competitions, including first prizes at the 13th Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza, the American Protégé Music Talent Competition in New York, the 7th Stockholm International Music Competition, the 17th Academic Clarinet Competition in Włoszakowice, and the 8th West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival in Szczecin.
Furthermore, she was a semi-finalist at both the Prague Spring International Music Competition and the International Clarinet Competition in Ghent.
Agata Piątek has performed in world-renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York and Konserthuset in Stockholm. She made her solo debut in 2014 with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. As both a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed with such orchestras and ensembles as the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra, the Częstochowa Philharmonic, the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, and the Zabrze Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with the Silesian Quartet and the Zemlinsky Quartet. Her festival appearances include the Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary and the Aurora Music Festival in Stockholm.
Her discography includes the world premiere recording of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Concerto Grosso No. 2 for five clarinets and orchestra, released by DUX. The album received nominations for the Fryderyk Awards and the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). She has been awarded scholarships by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the “Young Poland” scholarship programme. Since 2021, she has been Principal Clarinettist of the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. She also collaborates with the Cavatina Philharmonic Orchestra and La Nostra Banda as Principal Clarinettist. In addition, she is a member of the Hexatonic ensemble.
