Ferreira was named Young Musician of the Year and the first clarinetist to win both the junior and senior divisions of the Prémio Jovens Músicos in 2014. He has won prizes at the Debussy Competition in Paris, the Prague Spring International Music Competition and the Estoril Interpretation Competition, and was laureate of the J. Pakalnis International Competition in Vilnius, Terras de La Salette Competition and the "AGEAS New Talent Prize" in Porto. Ferreira's international career has seen him tour Europe, China, Brazil, the USA, Dubai and Israel, appearing as soloist with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in the Czech Republic. He is founder of the Art'Ventus Quintet and a member of the ars ad hoc ensemble, exploring different possibilities. in chamber music. Horácio Ferreira is a Vandoren artist, playing on a BD5 mouthpiece and 3.5 - V12 reeds as well as on Buffet-Crampon, playing with a set of Tosca clarinets.
Since 2018, he has been artistic advisor to the Marvão International Music Festival (FIMM).
