Kei Kusunoki graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, in the Faculty of Music. She has studied clarinet under Hiroko Takeyasu, Chikage Horikawa, Masaharu Yamamoto, and Hidemi Mikai, as well as chamber music with Junji Mitsuishi. She joined the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in 2014, and currently serves as their deputy principal clarinetist. She won 2nd place in the 33rd Japan Wind and Percussion Competition.
